Ingredients
- 1. 1 can of sardines packed in olive oil, drained
- 2. 2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or baguette)
- 3. 1/2 avocado, sliced or mashed
- 4. 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
- 5. 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 6. 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (parsley, dill, or cilantro), chopped
- 7. Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts, hot sauce, or Dijon mustard
Instructions
- 1. Prep the Ingredients: Drain the sardines well. Slice the avocado and red onion. Chop the fresh herbs.
- 2. Toast the Bread: Toast the bread to your liking.
- 3. Spread the Avocado: Spread a generous layer of mashed avocado on one slice of bread.
- 4. Layer the Sardines: Arrange the sardines on top of the avocado.
- 5. Add the Toppings: Sprinkle the red onion and fresh herbs over the sardines. Squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice over everything.
- 6. Top it Off: Place the other slice of bread on top and gently press down.
- 7. Slice and Serve: Cut the sandwich in half and enjoy!
